As described by Soupie, below, this was previously The Borough Arms and is an historic building in the centre of Dorchester. The landlord was sociable, and the atmosphere was sensible. The clientele consisted of a couple of locals, some very ‘focussed’ CAMRA yoghurt-knitters and one or two passers-by. Ales on were Hobgoblin Gold, Bombardier, Directors and Ringwood Best, all in pretty good condition. A great drinkers’ pub, I’d be very happy to come back and it’s a definite for inclusion in a crawl.

A small terraced cream rendered cottage style pub and music venue with red paint work and dormer windows. There is a beer garden.

The interior has two rooms that form an L-shape around the bar that faces you on entry. The first room is in undressed stone and wood panel, with a small brick fireplace. it has a TV, Sky News showing at my visit and a few brass bits and military badges. The second room is in white and wood panel, with a brick fireplace, white ceiling and fake beam look. There is a dart board, a TV (not on at my visit) some old wood signs on the walls. The service was fine and the clientele amounted to a few locals it seemed at my early visit.

Beer; Tap stuff with Ringwood Bitter handpull, though this was not on. Fortunately, it was a hot day, so i had a Thatcher's Cider for a change.

A basic, but pleasant enough place that only suffered from the lack of real ale choice.
