The only really disappointing pub visit of my Sheffield trip, granted it was early doors so Big Steve and myself had the place to our own. It's a kind of foody bar and being empty there was no buzz I saw about the place despite the lone barman deciding to turn the music up to honour our presence. The lone handpump had a turned clip leaving a rather uninspiring keg lineup the pinnacle of which was a lacklustre Beavertown Gamma Ray. It may be better on a lively evening but not somewhere I'll be going out of my way to return to.

Another recently established pub in the Kelham Island area, this one occupying a similar space to the Old Workshop, but with a slightly different vibe. Accessed from the right hand end of the Globe Works (look out for the bouncers standing in the entrance to a courtyard), this one is a bit more airy, shiny and finished (especially the toilets).

As well as the eight keg fonts on the bar back, there are cocktails and burgers, and payment is by card only. On my Bank Holiday weekend visit I wasn't the only over-60 present, but this place is aimed squarely at a younger demographic, I would suggest. Service was very efficient, with some cocktail orders seemingly requiring a group effort. My order of a third of a pint momentarily non-plussed my server, unused to such apparent abstemiousness, but the requisite lined glass was soon pointed out to him and my bank account was painlessly stripped of £2.

There was some loud music going on, which I quite enjoyed, though I would have struggled to maintain a conversation, to be honest. Beers came from local breweries such as St Mars of the Desert and Triple Point, with others from further afield such as Brewdog, Beavertown, Magic Rock and Lagunitas. There was nothing at outlandish strengths, and though my St Mars 6.4% saison was drinkable, I soon got tired of it. I saw burgers being brought out to other tables, and there's an outdoor drinking area with greenery in tubs, which could be classed as a beer garden. Oh, and a solitary hand pump, slightly obscured, with Abbeydale Moonshine available. Not a beer I would normally drink, and in a place that doesn't "do" real ale, I would be wary of trying it. Maybe next time.
