A bit of a mission to get to on the day given several public transport problems, not least google maps prompting me to get off the bus two stops early when there is a stop exactly opposite, however none of this mattered when I finally got there to discover a top end micropub. A straight forward shop conversion as mentioned below, one handy feature up on the wall was a live bus arrival board covering all the local buses at the adjacent stops in both directions. Beers on were New River London Tap (changed to Kent Amarillo), Hammerton Zeal, Weird Beard Mariana On Mango, Rudgate Battleaxe, Saltaire Triple Chocoholic and Beerblefish imperial Stout, all on cask, a couple of craft keg, Bohem Amos and Beerblefish Infinite Improbability on keykeg, Ciders were Rosies Pig and Seacider Passionfruit. A great micropub well worth a return visit.

This place ticks all the micropub boxes - no extraneous machines such as one-armed bandits, no music, no TVs - and of course they have decent beer. Typically four real ales are available here, and I had an excellent, if low ABV 3.5%, pint of Wantsum More's Head, an easy drinking session bitter. food seemed to be limited to crisps, nuts and the like, with pickled eggs for the more adventurous punter!

It looks as if they've gone to a bit of effort to inject a bit of individuality to the decor, with all manner of odds and ends (well described below), plus framed CAMRA awards and of course the GBG 2019 "we're in it" flyer. I would be very surprised if they didn't also make the 2020 edition. There's a bit of outside seating in a yard at the back - I can't describe it as a garden as there's nothing growing in it - plus a few benches at the front on the pavement area.

This is a classic shop conversion micropub, and like others before me I thought that this one was a cut above the average. I definitely think that a return visit is on the cards.

This is a classic shop converted (well, hairdressers converted to be precise) micro pub that has been fitted out to a pretty high standard, foregoing the basic furnishing spec that most micro pubs seem to opt for, in favour of a much more comfortable approach. Whilst a few high tables and stools can be found to the front left, these soon give way to a well upholstered banquette which extends back as far as the servery which is in the rear left corner. Over to the right, some even comfier looking banquette booths can be found under the front windows, with sofas further along and finally what appeared to be old bus seats as you get closer to the bar. Padded kegs are also available to add to the seating options as and when required. The servery is a very basic, small counter with a large beer board behind it - nothing more complicated is required, as all the beers are served directly from a temperature controlled tap room out the back. The bar area has been decorated with pump clips, as you'd expect, whilst elsewhere you can spot a cuddly toy stag's head, local message board and various train themed items. Beyond the bar, there is a very narrow passageway with drinking ledges and high stools on either side, where more pump clips reside, next to a framed jigsaw of the original Green Dragon pub which this place's name references. A window here looks through to the taproom, whilst a door leads out to an unexplored beer garden and there was a big stack of board games piled up to the rear.
The pub offers four ales at any given time, with options on this occasion comprising New River London Tap and Isle of Rye, Beerblefish ESB and Mighty Oak Oscar Wilde Mild, with a wide selection of ciders also available. The barman here was very friendly and knowledgeable, helping several customers pick out something that might suit their taste and bringing a number of orders directly over to people's tables. I tried the Mild and London tap, both of which were excellent and I was rather loathe to have to leave and catch my train home, so easy was it to settle down for a session in here.
I really liked this place and thought it was one of the best micro pubs I've been to. I really liked the efforts made to make the place feel properly comfortable and cosy, even if that meant losing out on a bit of space as a result. The beer quality was worthy of the pub's title as CAMRA Greater London Pub of the Year 2018 and the service was top notch too. I'd definitely recommend a trip out here and whilst this isn't a part of town I find myself in often, I will be looking for excuses to make my way back out here for another visit.
