As the name suggests, this is a pub in the alehouse style, with bare wooden floorboards and a bar counter made of recycled timber. There are six hand pumps with four beers on at the time of my midweek visit; three were fairly standard beers from Ossett, Moorhouses and Purity, with an adventurous 9.5% coffee porter from Navigation which I didn't try as I was told that it had lactose as an ingredient.

A mixture of young people and a few approaching my age, but I've no idea if this is representative of the general demographic - it feels like a young persons pub, but then there are times when I feel like a young person myself. My half of Pride of Pendle was in good condition and my brief visit here was an enjoyable one, with upbeat rock music setting the mood. I entered to the last few bars of Bad Moon Rising, the same song having welcomed me to the Chantry Inn in Sheffield just the day before. (I didn't check if there really was a "bathroom on the right".) There is a sister pub to this one at the bottom of Mansfield Road, half a mile away, and the same company also now owns the Royal Children across town. All welcome additions to the real ale scene in Nottingham.

Looked interesting when I past it whilst walking around town in the afternoon. Primarily here to visit the good beer guide pubs in town, I thought I would give it a try. An inspired choice - as this was one of the most pleasant places visited in the evening.

Lots of beer paraphernalia on the walls and large L shaped room. Dog friendly.

I went for a Delirium Tremens which I was delighted to find was only £4. Friendly staff only blotted their copy-book by asking if I wanted a glass. I am not a heathen!

Have a feeling this may be in the GBG 2022.

Met at the door to do the Track & Trace necessities and then told to sit wherever we liked. One L shaped room with a variety of high tables, low tables and stools. A few in on our Monday lunchtime visit made for a pleasant atmosphere. 3 cask beers available and my pint from Navigation Brewery was in very good nick. Friendly staff and efficient service was a positive. I'd have happily stayed for another pint, but the Angel microbrewery just around the corner was calling. We'll definitely be calling in here again.
