After finding this pub had closed early on a Saturday evening, I returned to find it open and doing a brisk trade on a Tuesday lunchtime just over 2 years later. There is a ground floor section with a bar and a kitchen and further seating upstairs. With some kind of graduation ceremony in the vicinity, Furley & Co. was full with several graduates and their proud families. All tables on the ground floor were taken. So, I ended up standing at the bar. Old film posters provide a talking point in one corner, whilst there is an attractive and heated outdoor area to the rear.

This pub actually feels more like a cafe. But it features in the current Good Beer Guide and sure enough, there were 3 cask ales on - Salt Suede, Sunbeam Tiger In The Sun & Half Moon Citra. Traditional cider is no longer available. Craft beers were Salt Motueka & Brew York Lupu Lion & Black Bess.

This is seemingly a thriving venture during the day. Perhaps my previous review still applies for evenings, but I'll upgrade my score to a 6/10 on the basis of this visit.

Original Visit 8/1/22:

We had arranged to meet here after the football match, but unbelievable on a busy Saturday evening, the bouncer outside stated that they were shutting early as it was too quiet.

If a pub cannot manage to sustain enough custom on a busy Saturday evening, I fear for its future.

In an historic maritime building is a rather surprising beer drinkers' bar with a clump of cask handpumps and a selection of craft and European beers (at prices considerably below the Brewdog opposite). The decor isn't great, with rather too much orange and industrial fittings, but the welcome is friendly and the beer is good. As with most of the quayside venues, there is a screened-off outdoor area by the water used in summer, also a function room upstairs. Draught ales were Great Newsome Lads Stout and Sleck Dust, North Riding US Session Ale and Marston's 61 Deep. Boxed cider also available. I could happily have stayed here for several.

Nicely converted warehouse, well done, slight Brewdog industrial look but done better. There is a tacky outside area next to the quay. Good beer.
