This is a very well done conversion of a large TSB bank that had been empty for the best part of ten years before becoming a Spoons at the beginning of 2015. Inside it's a large open plan room with an ornate ceiling high above and the bar area down the far end. Just off the bar area is a further eating or drinking area plus a patio.
The bar has two banks of six hand pumps which had a decent selection, especially as this is a Lloyds rather than a standard JDW. The usual two GK beers and Doom Bore were on along with two beers from the festival, the International Everard's Inbetween, a House beer by Moorhouse called Twelve Tellers, Coach House Farrier's & Blueberry and Parker's Saxon Red, Viking Blonde & Centurion Pale. I went for the Viking Blonde (£2.35) which was in excellent nick. This is a good Spoons and worth a visit but it is a Lloyds so is probably best avoided after 21:00, especially at the weekend.

This is a BIG 'Spoons. Mr Ashworths description is spot on. Though unless there's another toilet in here the toilets were very small. If this place gets packed you might be better using the toilets over the road.

The Twelve Tellers is a very large Lloyds No 1 and grade 2 listed building that opened in Jan 2015 in the old TSB Bank on Church Street. The building was completed in 1907 and replaced an earlier bank (1776) on the same site.It was purpose built in Baroque style for the Preston Savings Bank which,in the grand banking hall had 12 Tellers stood behind the 65ft counter ready to serve the general public.
Many of the early features are still retained including the impressive and decorative high ceiling plus parts of the old bank counter as well as 2 marble security gates still in there original position. The toilets, like a great deal of Wethy's pubs were in pristine condition and according to the better half the ladies has preserved an amount of the original copper work.
To the right of the entrance is a massive seating area then forward of this up a few steps and through the gateway to the left is the long bar with to the right of this is an adequate seating area in an assortment of furniture styles, a fireplace and a couple of book shelves that get plenty of light from the large skylight.Beyond this point and further right are a couple of small cosy type areas.Through the doors at the rear is a split level external patio area with wheelchair access that has smoking and non smoking areas.
As with most newly opened Spoons pubs there is a tendency for an overabundance of bar persons and this one was no exception and although most were slightly green a decent job was being performed. The pub was quite busy on our lunchtime visit and had a fair selection of 12 cask beers to opt for,one of which was the Bank Top MILD which was a reasonable pint.
