Decent pub with the bar to the front as you come in, extending down the right hand side. Room to the rear used as a restaurant. Old Speckled Hen on hand pump. Would return to this one.

This looks like a couple of buildings knocked through into one. Georgian at heart, it has been much altered. The frontage of this pub/restaurant has been heavily rendered in yellow, with grey paintwork around the small windows and door, which has moulded edging. There is a rear beer garden area.

The pub has two areas; the front being a bar area and the rear a restaurant. The bar is an L-shaped area around the big wooden serving bar that faces you on entry. It is in a mix of cream, mint green and undressed brick, with supporting wall beams. There is a white and beam ceiling and patterned carpet. There is a nice brick chimney with fireplace and like the restuarant area it has part-partitions. There are a few prints on the wall and a large aerial photograph of the area. I didn't eat here, but they did a 2 for £10 and a £10-12 menu. There was no TV that i saw and the music was easy and a decent level. The service was fine and it was quite busy, with both diners and those just drinking - a mixed and slightly more mature clientele.

Beer; usual tap stuff with Old Spekky Hen and a decent Timothy taylor Landlord on handpull.

A good mix of oub and restaurant, the place has a classy little feel to it. I would definitely return here for one - and to try the food.

The front bar at the Goodbarns feels cosy and traditional with plenty of beams, solid wood furniture and a brick fireplace with real fire. It was busy on our Tuesday evening visit with an eclectic mix of customers and this helped the atmosphere. It's only when you venture towards the back of the building that you realise how large it is with lots of smaller, partitioned rooms all used for eating. The garden at the back fronts the river and has been very nicely constructed and maintained. A delightful place for a refresher on a warm evening.
Although this is clearly more of a restaurant than a pub, you wouldn't know that if you slid in for a pint and never ventured beyond the front bar.
The two beers on were Speckled and a very decent pint of TT Landlord. The Goodbarns and the Little Peacock'd be the first, and probably only, two places I'd head for a pint in Boston.
