An impressive looking building facing Ripley's Market Square. This is a stand alone building that is just about separated on the left by a narrow alleyway. This pub has recently been refurbished and taken over by Amber Inns. The large interior has two large rooms, a lounge area on the right and the main bar and lounge area on the left which is double in length, compared to the right hand side room. The majority of the woodwork is painted grey with all the upper walls wallpapered which depicted numerous drawer fronts. The pub was busy on our early Friday afternoon visit, with the majority of the drinkers choosing lagers. Three handpumps with two in use, Doom Bar and a Three Horseshoes house ale, which was ok.

Will undergo a “comprehensive refurbishment” after being bought by pub company Amber Taverns who plan to reopen the venue in early summer.
