Visited previously 05/03/22.
No cask. Keg offering of L Pride, Guinness, Meantime Prime Pale, Cornish Orchards cider, Peroni, Asahi, Victoria Malaga.
Bar is just inside the entrance to the left of reception in a white tiled area apart from a few carpet squares on which some of the larger regular table and chairs are sited. Chairs are mainly leather or nice fabric designs, and the associated tables are low coffee tables that make it a stretch to put your beer on. The bar counter is an island affair with tall stools and small roll backs that are none too comfortable and you must have your wits about you getting into, staying on and getting out of. Nice floor to ceiling windows down the left-hand side looking out onto the River Stour with a paved area outside and lots of patio style furniture. There are a few high tables in the rear left-hand corner of the bar area before it becomes the restaurant area. Nice hotel bar in a nice spot. Stayed in the hotel a few times over the years.

For the most part this is a typical posh hotel bar, devoid of atmosphere and only of use to those who are staying or have other business here. However on a warm sunny afternoon it's well worth a visit to enjoy a beer or three or a G&T sundowner on their splendid terrace with lovely views over the river and of the constant activity of the pleasure boats and the to-ing and fro-ing of the little ferry. Very expensive, of course and no real ale, but friendly waitress service and unusualy for such places no pressure to order food.
