A very pleasant roadside pub entered through the car park at the side, and there is also a small garden at the back. Inside the single long bar has been created by opening out the front three original rooms, and although the conversion has been done reasonably well, the beams are fake and the floorboards are modern. There are two brick fireplaces as well. The furniture and décor are comfortable and there is plenty of space around the tables as well as various comfy seating areas. The staff were really welcoming and agreeable, and the clientele were civilised. Food was good, freshly cooked and simple, though possibly little overpriced. The bar was not cluttered with excessive pumps, just a couple of megakeg taps at one end. Cask ales are retrieved from the back room, and on this occasion Yeovil Stargazer and Exmoor Ale were the offerings. The Yeovil was a fresh barrel, only just put on, while the Exmoor was well kept and enjoyable. I’d be very happy to stop here again, and I would happily come back to eat or spend an evening.

A pub certainly geared up for restaurant style trade nevertheless caters for their passing drinkers as well. Enter via a glazed porch into a mid -sized single roomed eating area with only a few tables not laid out for food. The bar is to the left and there are no taps or beer pumps. Real ale is served from the cellar and comes out at a good temperature and in good condition. The beers on were Bays Topsail and St Austall Proper Job. Not sure what else there was, no doubt some kind of lager and cider and wine of course. The new owners are certainly giving it a go after the last landlord who was by all intents and purposes not "encouraging".
