This is a lovely Georgian pub, ideally located in central Poole that seems pretty authentic. It's cosy atmosphere is ideal for a pint after some stressful shopping or after a hospital visit as NHS and Harbour Hospital are at walking distance. Staff is very friendly and do not push you into ordering food: mere drinkers are very welcome. Four pumps are on that all provide well-kept Marston ale. Although my previous reviser is right about the "rough and ready" atmosphere, it is the right place to meet up with your mates or make new friends as the locals are very friendly and open-minded. Definitely not the right place for a romantic night out with your girlfriend, though. A log-fire or some candles could improve the atmoshpere. Very inexpensive snacks are available all day long. Yummy, home-made curry is often available.

A lovely building but sadly the interior is fairly battered, doesn’t look to have received much love since 1993 and needs a good lick of paint. As mentioned below, it has been opened-out but there is still some semblance of where different rooms may have been. Nonetheless was busy, with ‘salt-of-the-earth’ locals. Basic pub food and dart board present. Three ales on at the bar, 2x Ringwood (Best was so-so) and Wychwood Hobgoblin, fairly dull selection for this part of the world. Feels like a pub whose best days were long ago.

This busy Georgian town pub has been left a bit isolated by modern town centre development, but it remains a busy, vibrant venue for shoppers and evening drinkers. The ground floor has been opened up to form a single large bar, though some areas are demarcated by different flooring, internal balustrades and structural pillars. The outside is adorned with hanging baskets with impressive floral displays. There are gaming machines, a dartboard and a jukebox playing pop music. The staff and locals are friendly enough, though there is an air of 'rough and ready' about the place. There is cheap, formulaic food on offer, fine for bar snacks but not over-appetizing. They run regular events such as poker nights, pub quizzes and a curry club. Four ales on – I had a pint of Banks's which was past its best but still drinkable. OK as a bolt-hole, but I'm not sure I would want to spend an entire evening here.
