A quick stop here as the pub was just about to close on a quiet Tuesday afternoon - the landlord said they'd had a busy weekend and felt they had earned a rest, but he cheerfully served us a couple of halves to drink outside, and kindly offered the use of the toilet facilities before locking the door. The central entrance has doors to the right (for the lounge) and left (for the public bar). We'd chosen left, and found ourselves in a room whose eccentricities might well have made this a rewarding stop.
There was Peak Swift Nick and Black Sheep Ale on the two hand pumps in the public bar, with two more in the lounge, which I suspect were doubled up, given the distance between the two sets, though the website also mentions Bradfield Farmers Blonde, which perhaps rotates with the other two. Also mentioned on the website is a snug, which we didn't have a chance to see - I've been past this pub many times on my bike but this is the first time I've found it (only just) open, so will have to keep on trying in hope of a longer visit next time.
