There seems to have been a makeover here, with the pub's external appearance augmented by a patio at the front, featuring re-purposed scaffolding boards and garden heaters, adding more climate changing gases to the atmosphere than a herd of cows. The interior has clearly been changed by the same designer, with tables made from floorboards and scaffolding poles, high chairs made from steel but painted to look like copper and everything else painted battleship grey. There are two hand pumps, partly hidden by a large pillar and a placard advertising mulled wine at the time of my visit. Beers included the seasonal Bradfield Belgian Blue, which was not very good, but it seemed to me that the recipe or brewing process may have changed and the beer wasn't up to its previous standards in several pubs where I tried it last winter. Or perhaps it's just finding its way into pubs where they don't know how to keep it and serve it properly. My visit was before whatever lunchtime rush they may have been expecting, but my notes include the phrase Thank God It's Christmas!, so I clearly didn't think much of the place and couldn't wait to get out. The background music, my notes tell me, consisted of "loud music from self-satisfied modern artists trying to channel grief and angst". Oh dear.

The Pheasant is up a steepish hill from the middle of Oughtibridge,
The pub is stone built and it is fairly smart inside there was one real ale on which was Timothy Taylors Golden Best this drink was not on top form.
Having said that this is quite a nice pub and if the beer was better i would be happy to come in here again.
