Old Boots left this review about Galphay Inn

A stone built, eatery and pub in a pretty, well to do, isolated, village, it reopened in June 2010 in less pretentious form to its previous incarnation, it is still more modern than trad'. Two open plan rooms with stone flags and panelling in the right hand and carpets and wallpaper in the other, the L shaped bar counter serves both. Décor is fairly minimal with a mirror and large clock being about it. , both rooms are pleasant and are furnished with separate tables with chairs and stools. The right hand room is more bar like with a wood burning stove and a large TV, the counter here has three pulls with Greene King ales, Olde Trip and St Edmonds Ale on this occasion, and Black Sheep Bitter. The counter in the other room is equipped with the usual kegs with only Peroni standing out, a list on each table details the wine. The beer was in reasonable condition and the service efficient, unsurprisingly given the time of year the other customers were middle aged locals. Steak nights are held every other Thursday night, but the pub only opens for lunches at weekends.
