The Kings Head Hotel is a large Holts pub with a central bar that serves a bar area and a lounge to the front and a second area with split-level seating in the right rear. There’s a pool table and dartboard and televisions for showing live football. The usual keg was available and the hand pumps across the bars were all badged with Bitter. The football had finished before my visit on a recent Saturday evening so there was some background music playing. I found the service to be polite, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to revisit.

Large purpose built Holts’s pub near Droylsden market. It has multiple rooms including three lounges and a massive tap room. There’s a very mixed clientele leaning more towards the mature end (OK it’s full of fossils really and we were some of the youngest in there). Holts’s cask Mild and Bitter on the bar at very competitive prices as usual. It’s a decent pub but it’s pretty basic and definitely a working mans local.
