Not a lot has changed over the years, it’s still largely a dining pub with two bars and a dining snug called the Gallery. Laid out almost entirely for dining there are a couple of bar stools and a wicker armchair, there’s even a dart board and big telly. The décor has been updated but the old photos remain over the counter in the left hand bar. The right hand bar has two pulls, Theakstons Best and a Copper Dragon, otherwise a selection of lagers, cider, Guinness and naturally wines. It was in the 2021 and 2022 Good Beer Guides but the beer quality is still very good. There’s an outside seating area at the right hand end with a novel outsized seat, so novel that I saw some punters stop their car get out and photograph themselves on it, they didn’t stay for a drink.

I entered through the left door, not the main right hand side door. Two rooms with the bar in the middle. The other room looked to be used for dining. Four real ales with two clips reversed. But I could see what the ales were and none were of any great strength.

a remorselessly modernised village pub that some how still retains a village atmosphere. Two bars, a small and a large, the décor and facilities being broadly similar. Black Sheep Bitter, John Smiths Cask and the infinitely more interesting Village Brewer's White Boar in excellent condition, stump four was without a clip. Slightly non standard kegs from McEwans, Heinekin and Thatchers Gold cider alongside the more usual 1664, and Guinness, I didn't notice a smooth. Bar staff very busy, busy in spite of there being very few customers on my visit. Moderne cream and red décor, light wood furniture of candle powered tables in various heights, high backed chairs and tall stools, a wood burning stove takes up one corner of the smaller bar. Beer mats are provided in small racks. Despite these features there is still a homely touch in the old photos of the pub, the local wartime Home Guard, aerial views and maps plus the essential notice board of village life.
