There's not many pubs in a 20 mile radius of home that I haven't been to before - but this just may be one.

At the end of a long dead end single lane road with grass growing up the middle, you've got to want to come. Severn Valley Railway Train might be a better option, with the Hampton Loade station a short walk.

Set in the middle of a camping / caravan site - which is where the majority of its trade comes from. This explains the high number of "Pack that in" signs - including a first for me - "No Pyjamas or dressing gowns in the pub".

Dogs allowed in the bottom half of the bar - which made the first sign of a life in the top bar, a barky Jack Russell, a bit of a surprise.

There were a couple of real ales on - too risky to try with the lack of turn over, so ashamed to say I went with the "locals" on lout.

The food is very good - home cooked and honest pub grub. It was a bit of a sad day, when I realised I am getting too old for a mixed grill.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Unicorn

In the middle of a riverside camping / caravan / mobile home site, this pub has a view of the Severn valley but looks a bit run down. Traditional, if basic, furniture and decor within the original two-bar layout (the main bar with a side pool room and the other - not in use when we visited - extended with a conservatory). Patio tables out on the terrace. Typical bar food menu. Four real ales on handpump: Banks's Bitter, Pedigree, Wainwright and Hobson's Town Crier.

Probably my fourth or fifth visit here. It was busy on my last visit and I didn’t feel comfortable but on this occasion (as with my first visit in 2005) at 11.30 am we were in first and had the pub to ourselves, which is how I like it. The landlady was friendly and chatty and the ale was in good condition. I had the Martson’s Merry Monk Mild which was fine. The other ales were Hobson’s Town Crier and Banks’s Bitter. I’d happily go back but I know my personal preference would be the first hour or two after opening.
