As the late, great Alan mentions below, this is more sports bar than pub, and has framed sporting photos on the walls and some other paraphernalia including a signed cricket bat, signed Manny Pacquiao t-shirt and Roberto Duran display as well as a glass-fronted trophy cabinet heaving with sporting cups, trophies and shields. A solitary ale (which surprised me) - Nethergate Suffolk County - with a second stump unclipped: an average pint for £3.20. A smattering of customers in on a Sunday arvo, with a PL game on a wall-mounted flatscreen providing occasional glances to those in attendance. Like Al, I was happy enough having a pint in here, but if I were to return to Hitchin, I'd give this one a miss.

Bar 85 is a short walk from The Victoria.
This pub looked more like a club from the outside,but it is a proper pub.
Once inside the bar faces in a single L shaped room,there are tall tables and chairs near the bar and bench seating and chairs to the front left,there is a darts board and pool table to the rear left.
There was one real ale on the bar which was Thwaites Lancaster Bomber,this was a decent enough drink.
The pub was fairly busy on my late Saturday afternoon visit.
Probably not a pub most would do,but i was happy enough having a drink here.
