Close by the Trent Valley station, this two room pub has been refurbished to form a semi-rustic bar with a 'deli' menu and an upmarket restaurant behind the compact servery. Two real ales from Blythe are offered: Bagot's Bitter (£3.80) and Palmer's Poison.

The Yorkshireman is very handy for Rugeley Trent Valley train station.
There is no front door to this pub so you enter from the rear.
Once inside there is a room to the right which is for drinkers, this room is bare boarded, the seating is a couple of pew seats and normal tables and chairs, there is another room which is interconnected to the right room, the left hand room is carpeted and and has normal tables and chairs, this room was fairly full with diners, there is also a larger room to the rear which is square shaped, this room looked more like a lounge.
There were two real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Blythe Baggots Bitter which was quite a nice drink, the other beer was Blythe Palmers Poison.
This is quite a pleasant pub to have a drink in.

If you are changing trains at Rugeley Trent Valley and with time to spare, this pub is well worth popping into. The rear entrance leads to a small oak panneled bar with a wooden floor , scrubbed old tables and a pleasant bay window.Beyond the bar there is a carpeted restaurant set for dining and the food is the principal draw.It looked and smelt good but sadly I was not partaking.Plently of other were. There were two handpumps with Blythe Palmers Poison and Bagot Bitter(£2.50,good value, good pint) while the four kegs taps were drawing Freedom Stout,Organic Lager and Four together with a keg cider. Both Blythe and Freedom are very local brewers and it was good to see Freedom displacing mega keg brands like Guiness,Stella,Fosters, Carling etc.The ethos seems to be to source locally, both on food and beer,an initiative I am sure results in high quality.
It may not be a place to base yourself for an evenings drinking, but it's well worth a visit, especially instead of waiting at a desolate platform.
