On the edge of the city centre, but somewhat cut off by the major highways around here, this cafe style pub has vast plate glass windows and small dining type tables across three areas. It's very airy but not very pub like. The landlady was marshalling her young barmaids strictly and with people eating from the "Nibbles" menu which did look good ,plus drinking coffee and teas, ale seems an afterthought.although it features in the 2024 GBG.
The choice was North Vanishing Point,Roosters The Reliance and Kirkstall Three Swords (NBSS 3.5).Decent enough but a bit of a schlep away from some fine ale houses,I can't promote it as somewhere to include on an ale pub crawl.

Surprisingly few changes from before unlike their Harrogate venue. Visiting today there were three pulls plus an unused one, North Brewing, Kirkstall Three Swords and a house beer by Roosters. There’s also horseshoe of UK standards and a solo with Budvar, the real Budweiser. The bottled beer list has the better Belgian standards. Otherwise still as was from its Reliance days.

Perhaps more of a café feel to the main corner bar than anything else, helped by the full-height windows on both edges. A door labelled 'Wine Shop' off to one side leads to a lounge (with the bottles actually displayed on shelves on each side of the opening) and a larger dining room can be found up a few steps at the back. Five handpumps on the counter, offering the 'house' (Acorn) Best Bitter (£3.10), two from Sunbeam - Foggy Morning and Winter Special - Roosters Buckeye and a Pure North cider.
