What Pub suggests that this place was originally opened as a Lloyds but it certainly isn't now. As mentioned below, it's an old church but I thought it had been rather spoilt by turning it into two floors. They probably had to do this as the downstairs area isn't that large. I didn't get to see upstairs as before midday on a November Thursday it was closed. I also noticed that as mentioned below, the disabled entrance was padlocked. As far as I'm concerned that means this JDW doesn't have disabled access as even someone on an electric scooter would have to wait for someone to come and unlock the gate then on leaving go through the same rigmarole. I know that I would have preferred to walk up and down that ramp as clearly would a woman struggling on the steps as I was leaving.
On the downstairs bar there are banks of four and five hand pumps. The four on the left had Cornish Crown SPA & Golden Crown, Theakston's Old Peculier and Otter Ale. The right five had the IPA version of the JDW Trio Of Doom and two unused despite the fact they were badged. I was told by the friendly barman that it was official JDW policy to have all hand pumps badged even if they weren't used. I'm glad to say that we both agreed that this was pathetic and a waste of time for both staff and punters. Remarkably all the beers were priced at £1.49 although I'm fairly sure that I was charged £1.69 for my OP to wash down a breakfast. I certainly wasn't going to query it at that price.
Despite the fact it might appear that I had no end of grief with this place I actually quite liked it. The OP and breakfast were fine and I would happily return.

Enjoyed our visit to this impressive Wetherspoon Chapel apart from the imposing steps to get in. There is a ramp that is advertised as being for disabled but it was chained up and locked. When we asked about it, we were told the gradient is too steep for wheelchairs to be pushed up. Battery scooters would manage it, but they now keep it locked for safety reasons. Once inside it is worth wandering round both upstairs and downstairs, and the beers were good too. Decent range available. Friendly staff too.

Built in 1840 as a Wesleyan Methodist Church, this building has been magnificently transformed into a two floored Wetherspoons outlet. The pubs Cornish name when translated is "Centenary Chapel"you will also find other Cornish signs strewn around the interior. On the lower floor the organ and numerous stained glass windows are on display whereas upstairs the large Church organ pipes behind the bar are another addition. The approach to the front entrance is up a lot of steps but well worth the climb just to admire this excellent conversion.
