Down at the end of Lonely Street is the Dutton Hotel. Well, it’s really Park St but doesn’t look like the sort of street you would want to walk down on your own. The appropriately named Strangeways prison is at the back of the pub as well. But the pub at the end of the road is a beacon of deliverance for the brave souls who chance their arm. It’s so clearly a backstreet locals’ boozer, as I just can’t believe that it gets any passing trade. Anyway, it’s a Hyde’s house, with just Hyde’s Original on handpump. I didn’t make a close note of the prices, but they are obviously relatively cheap as two and a half pints cost a fiver and some change.
There are two separate rooms in this cornersite pub, with the walls having a rough cast appearance, and with the walls and ceilings both sporting what look like plaster faux wooden beams. The carpet has clearly seen much better days, and the red upholstering on the benches is pretty dirty as well. Unusually, the beams have hanging from them an array of what looked like brass blow lamps, though I expect they originally had some other purpose, and the cabinets and shelving behind the bar counter contained various nick nacks.
Despite this pub’s rather unkempt appearance I still quite liked it. Having somewhere near my hotel where one could escape to for a quiet drink is a definite plus. I’d visit again if I was staying here long enough to do so.

Corner pub in the shadow of the MEN Arena and Strangeways prison. It's shaped a bit like an anvil as it has a point at one end and is quite a bit bigger than it looks initially. As it's a Hydes pub it also has a real large anvil in the front window (Hydes logo). There are 3 small rooms with a big screen TV in the back one. Hydes Bitter and the seasonal on handpump. I had a pint of the seasonal Over A Barrel which was very good and soon got chatting to the barman & the landlady. It's a friendly little place, GBG 2010 listed and well worth a visit if you like a traditional local.

The Dutton Hotel is a small wedged shaped pub that is in the back streets close to strangeways prison.
Once inside there were a few rooms and i had a drink in the bar which was fairly busy and a decent enough room to have a few drinks in.
This pub is a Hydes tied house and there was one real ale on here this was Hydes bitter and this was a decent drink.
I thought this was quite a nice pub.
