Soup Dragon left this review about Acorn

A terraced 1960s development that replaced the former (at least Victorian) Acorn Hotel, on the same site. There is an attempt to give it a slight Victorian look, with the red and white frontage having panelling and etched glass. The interior is a single room, with a raised pool table area and a lower and larger area with a small stage area. The decor is red and white, with wood floor, unless you are in the bogs, which is metal lined! The wood tables and chairs do have a few sofas for company. The service was fine and the clientele mixed, and local. There was a jukebox, but no music on and no TV, although there does appear to be a large screen facility. Beer; no real ale, just had Guinness from the usual array of taps. A local's pub with local language, but i didnt find it threatening. Nothing for the real ale drinker.

Extremely rough pub. Dont go in if you are..

1) Alone
2) Single Woman
3) Wimpy person

Seems hardest drinkers and full of Chavs goes in here. As an outsider, I got stared and mutterings by regulars. I just headed straight to the bar and sat in quiet corner. Try not make an eye contact and keep yourself quiet. Wooden floor looks it hasnt been swept for years and wooden chairs/tables. Pool table on raised floor. It looks like million smokers stood outside the door. I will NOT go there again.. EVER!
