One of the original pubs on the popular Stokes Croft strip, this has had both a refurbishment and a change of name since my previous review, and now has a rather more elegant feel to it perhaps, although it’s appears that there is still something if a music emphasis here.

Internally it’s largely all one open plan and high ceilinged room, although a door at the rear that was signposted to the garden actually led to a rather odd and very sparse tiled anteroom. Presumably the garden was through another door at the rear, although I did not investigate further. The main room had sanded wooden boards on the floor and walls painted in either white or dark green, and this latter shade was also on the ceiling. A number of thin horizontal wooden slats were affixed to the wall on the right as well as a few smaller sections of slats on the back wall, and many of these were draped with foliage. A large skylight was up in the roof which must give a light and airy feel and there was also a glitter ball hanging near here. A DJ booth with mixing decks and so on was at the front of the pub, so presumably music features prominently on occasions. Seating was a mixture of long varnished tables and benches in the middle of the room, with curved booths to the right fitted with padded grey bench seating. Low hanging metal lamps hung above these creating an intimate atmosphere. Food is from the well regarded pop-up Pasta Slut, and in reference to this the tables had large tinned tomato cans filled with basil on them.

Unfortunately there were no real ales on tap, or indeed much of anything on keg either as far as I could make out. The solitary cider meanwhile was Thatcher’s Gold. Overall, I thought this was a pretty decent pub and I may well return to check out the food offering.

The Love Inn is a short walk from the Pipe & Slippers so very handy when it was chucking it down.
Once inside there is a single square shaped room with the bar on the left side, the floor is bare boarded, there are loose wood bench seats in the middle of the room and normal bench seating in bays on the right side, there is a DJ rig to the front.
There are no real ales on here,so i had a drink of Estrella which was pretty bland.
The background music playing was crap, but i had to bide my time in this pub as it was raining really hard.
Not my type of pub at all,but it was a port in a storm so kept me dry which was a bonus.

Blackthorn _ left this review about The Bank

A large, airy pub with high ceilings and large windows facing out to the road. Housed, as it’s name suggests, in a former bank, there is still a safe mounted on the floor in a nod to it’s former life.

The colour scheme is very monotone with the walls painted either black or white, and dark wooden flooring. On one wall is a black and white montage of old music posters, and music seems to feature prominently here with a small stage area and a poster advertising tonight’s band that were apparently going to be on until 2:00am.

The food option seemed to mostly resolve around pizza’s, with a dozen or so being available and what was coming out looked pretty good. There were a few other dishes available, but not an extensive choice. There was however a decent looking brunch menu.

The solitary beer on tap was Bath Ales’ Gem, although there was another pump that appeared to have run out. Ciders were Thatcher’s Gold and Weston’s Old Rosie.
