ROB Camra left this review about The Old English Gentleman

Nicely furnished pub close to the new Hull History Centre and the old fire station. It's been broken through into one room from two and it's very obvious where the rooms were. Leather look settles and chairs round the edges along with a few dining tables and chairs. There are lots of pictures of old Hull and many more of the various stars who used to appear at the nearby theatre. It's a Marston's pub and there were 3 ales available from their extended range. My pint of Jennings Cocker Hoop was in good nick. The other beers available were Hobgoblin and Marston's Bitter. I've always liked this pub and used to call in a lot when I worked in Hull a few years ago. Thankfully nothing much has changed in the intervening time. It's little off the beaten track and is an oasis of calm just outside the city centre.

The Old English Gentleman is a small pub in the city centre but a bit out of the way once inside it looks unaltered and a bit olde worldy i tried Wooden Top Pirates Gold and this was a very good drink the other beers on the bar were Jennings Bitter Banks's Mild and Marstons Bitter i really liked this pub and think it is one of the better pubs in the middle of Hull.
