A Harvester on the edge of town, so you know what to expect. The building sits in its own grounds, most of which are now taken up by car parking. It is an attractive timber-built house whose frame can be inferred from inside from the beams and other structural timbers, which have been painted subtly to blend in with the rest of the décor. The front is currently cluttered with scaffolding as the timber cladding is being renovated. Inside it is the usual Harvester melange of grubby carpet, annoying gaming machines and salad bar. The atmosphere is quite friendly, although the staff were a little less than welcoming. A gang of loud children greeted us as we arrived, but thankfully these were removed by their parents in good time for us to have a quiet pint. The only ale on was Speckled Hen, which was much too cold and tasted of nothing. Not somewhere I shall seek out again, but probably OK for a swift half if passing by.
