Old Boots left this review about The Arncliffe Arms

A stone built pub clinging to the steep slope of Eskdale slightly closer to the station and the Beggars Bridge than the village. Inside is a jumble of rooms, a games room with pool and machines to the right of the main door, a small bar served by a hatch to the left then through to the back is the main bar with the counter and steps up into the curved extension visible in Andy Hemmingway's picture. At the back the pub slopes steeply down to the toilets and a door to the car park. Lots of exposed stone in the older section, carpeted floors and dark wood tables and chairs, not much in the way of pictures as the menu boards take up a fair bit of wall space around the fireplace. The dartboard and a big screen reside in the extension along with more seating at tables and chairs. Three handpumps grace the counter, Black Sheep bitter and a honeyed beer from North Yorkshire with a clip less third; in spite of the GBG2011 listing the BSB was flat and dull. There was also constant music, mainly 70s, 80s and 90s pop but from the more tasteful, to my ears anyway, end of the spectrum. The food seems averagely priced for pub food fare and the portions reasonably sized, although the drinks did seem a bit higher priced than average but this is a tourist area.

Charming country pub with a log burning stove. Beware of the cheese & biscuits though at £7.50 a portion!!
