The Stag is an old Shipstons pub set back from the main road through Kimberly. Now a free house it has two rooms. We entered on the right and into what seemed more like the bar although the other room could have been similar as I did not check. This pub has just the sort of decor I like with a rustic old fashion feel that has obviously not been altered for many years. There is a lot of mahogany throughout with the original curved bar and low beam ceilings. The walls are also adorned with old Shipstons memorabilia, mirrors and plaques in homage to the former owners which is a nice tough. There was a good choice of real males on the bar that on my visit consisted of Landlord, Adnams Bitter, another Adams brew A stout that I failed to notice. I opted for the Landlord that was by far the most expensive pint of the night at £3.58 and was slightly off and on the turn. Immediately the landlord after pulling it asked how it was and then proclaimed that he thought it could possibly be a bit bad and asked if I would like a fresh pint as he had a new barrel waiting to be put on. After a few minutes I had a nice fresh pint that was quiet good. It was not very busy on My Saturday evening visit which is a shame as it is a very nice traditional old school pub. I would visit this place again if ever around Kimberly but a little spruce up would go a long way as although I like the old world charm it is beginning to border on being a little shabby. Good solid ale pub though that is worth a visit.

The Stag Inn is a largeish old stand alone pub that is away from the middle of Kmberley and it is at the Nottingham end of the town.
The pub is set well back from the main road, once inside the pub was quite nice with a couple of rooms that i noticed, this pub used to be a Shipstones tied house and there were two real ales on when i went in here,i had a drink of Shipstones bitter and this was a very nice drink the other beer was Shipstones mild.
I think this pub is still up and running but i dont know what beers are now on here.
