Alex Conway left this review about The Gedling Inn

After a huge refurbishment and re brand the Chesterfield has now changed to the Gedlin Inn and is owned by a small pub co called A&A who also own the (slightly superior) White Horse In Ruddington. The Layout has remained the same but has been rigorously spruced up. There is still a square shaped central bar with hard wood floors and a lot of exposed white painted wood like a lot of these newly refurbished pubs like to go for. There is a wall that partially partitions the bar seating from the standing area and there is a mix of comfy bench seating and regular chairs in this part. At the back end of the pub there is another large separate square shaped room that is carpeted and reserved solely for diners that offers table service that is very popular so it is advisable to book beforehand. Food can also be ordered at and eaten in the bar area as well so at least customers have a choice. We were going to order and eat on one of the comfy beeches in the bar area but there was modern music playing far too loud inhere so we decided to go to the restaurant side but sadly although muted still played the same crap annoying music at a volume I deemed to be too loud for the setting. There was three ales on the bar with London pride, Everards Tiger and St Austill Tribute with the Pride and tribute coming in at £3.50. Unfortunately both were a little hazy and under conditioned so were not the most flavoursome beers ever but still fine and Drinkable. To say it is really pushing for its gastro menu/restaurant I though the food while fine was slightly short of what I was expecting for the price. Overall an improvement on the chesterfield and has a good (if not slightly mainstream) choice of ales that are ok but could be better. Get a few things tweaked and a bit better cellar management and this could be really good. Still trumped by it big brother in Ruddington though in my opinion.

Alan Winfield left this review about Chesterfield Arms

The Chesterfield Arms is in the gedling area of Carlton and quite close to the church.
This pub used to be a Home Ales tied house it is now trading under the John Barras name it is a fairly smart and comfortable pubwith a couple of handpumps on the bar i had Wells Bombadier there was also London Pride on.
Not a bad pub in a decent setting.
