I've now tried visiting this pub on both a Tuesday and a Wednesday evening and found it closed both times. I'm not clear when it opens or indeed if it is still trading. If you can find a way of contacting them, it may be best to check in advance to see if they are likely to be open.

This pub was originally a private members club,it was converted into the Nell Gwyn pub at some point in the early 90s.
Once inside there is a smallish single room with the bar facing, there was comfy bench seating either side of the entrance and normal tables and chairs elsewhere, there was some decent background music playing on my dinnertime visit.
There were two pumps on the,but one was unclipped, this left me with a drink of Welbeck Abbey Red Feather which was a decent drink.
I thought this was a decent enough pub,i even went back in it later in the afternoon for a quick drink.

Fairly basic but friendly local at traffic lights on the A38. Two real ales on hand pump when I was here - in fact there are only two hand pumps, it's not by any means a real ale emporium. Beers from local Welbeck Abbey brewery - Red Feather and Henrietta. The former is an amber ale, fairly unremarkable with malty sweetness predominating. The latter has the now almost unavoidable North American hops which are not to my taste, so I didn't try that one.
On arrival, the juke box was playing some very loud modern R&B but this fortunately soon gave way to some classic Motown at a reasonable volume, and judging by the gallery of photos around the bar, this is where the pub's strength lies. If this is your scene too, it might be worthwhile getting to know this place.
