The Bridges has a real remote feel to it and is nestled next to a fast-flowing stream. The interior is long and thin, with a dining area to the left as you enter and a slightly smaller area with a roaring fire and a sofa to the right as you enter. Toilets are behind the bar. An outdoor drinking area is available for those who have walked here and have muddy boots!

The pub is owned and run by Three Tuns. Having managed to visit the town of Bishop's Castle and having visited the Three Tuns Inn itself, without having sampled any of their beers, I thought it only fair to have one before departing the county. The 4 on offer were Cleric's Cure, Solstice, XXX & Bitter. My Solstice was in decent condition, but wasn't really my kind of beer.

Welcoming place in a wonderful location.

Much as described by Ray and Will, though my visit actually occurred in October 2016.Busy on a Thursday late lunchtime with walkers and birdwatchers.Reasonably priced hearty food. Beers, as mentioned, from Three Tuns. My stout was outstanding, the paler beers less so.Well worth a visit.

The pub had a respectable number of customers on our Friday lunchtime visit. I liked the way the staff were welcoming and chatty and didn't push for the hard sell, to find out whether you were dining with them today or just calling in for a drink. The customer base on our visit was mainly walkers, normal ones, that don't need a collection of fancy sticks strapped to them.
The pubs interior has low ceilings with untreated oak beams and a mix of timber and flag floors. There were three areas the main bar area was on the right of the entrance, which lead through into a newer extension with a high vaulted ceiling and oak trusses. I noticed an unusual looking shovel type thing displayed across one of the trusses and found out that it was a malt shovel, used to turn malt barley in a malt house.
To the left of entrance, there was another lounge area, which was mainly set up for dining.
Seven brass handpumps on the bar with six in use, with ales from Three Tuns Brewery. These were XXX, Clerics Cure, 1642, Solstice, Rantipole and a stout. I went for the 1642, which was excellent.
