A bucolic location for this whitewashed country village pub on a triangular village green which doubles as a cricket pitch in the summer months and itself also overlooked by Sir Edwin Lutyens' brick and half-timbered village hall which dates from 1893. Indeed the pub may well serve as the cricket club's de facto bar with the many team photos adorning the walls of the bar. Four ales in the shape of Sharp's Doom Bar, Fuller's Sticky Wicket, Hogs Back TEA and Surrey Hills Ranmore - the latter excellent, albeit £4.20 for a pint's worth. We managed to secure a bench out front to watch a bit of leather on willow along with a generous following of locals. For auto fans, there are also some nice bits about former local lad Mike Hawthorn on the wall outside the Gents.

A traditional country pub in a pleasant setting described below, the main drinking area has a stone tiled floor with a couple of large rugs in the seating areas, the seating is mixed but all at a comfortable and sensible level. There is a log burner set in an original fireplace. on the walls are some old black and white pictures of local scenes from the past as well as team pictures of the local cricket club past and present, there are also a few horse brasses above the fireplace. Four handpumps on the bar along with the usual keg offerings, ales on the day were Doombar, Hogs Back HBB, Hardy and Hanson's Rock On With Rudolph and Exmoor Gold, the latter being very good,at £4.00 a pint a little pricey but not much more than the going rate for the area.
A pleasant pub.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Barley Mow

One of the very best pub locations, set between the large triangular cricket green and the River Wey. Should be a truly great local, but unfortunately isn't... (and probably the most expensive pint of bitter that I've ever had).
