I arrived here about 18:00 on a Friday and it was completely rammed so didn't stay for long especially after noting that the empty table I had found was reserved. It's a typical open plan city centre Spoons, no worse or better than others.
Although the bar has two banks of five hand pumps it was all doubled up so there was one available soon, Doom Bore, Oakham Green Devil IPA and two festival ales. I went for the excellent Green Devil (£2.19) which was being sold at the standard guest price as there were still festival ales on.
Unlike London or Leeds this city centre Spoons doesn't have inflated prices, in fact it's cheaper here than some of the smaller Scottish towns. I thought it was OK.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Edward Wylie (JD Wetherspoon)
Very large, three-room layout with the incongruous industrial ventilation system being the only feature of note inside the converted ground floor of the Scottish Legal Life building (but note the fine exterior clock). Only four of the six handpumps were operational, but at least my pint of the hoppy New Beginnings from Williams Bros Brewing was in good condition and excellent value at £1.99. Quiet on a Sunday afternoon.
