Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Rupert Brooke (JD Wetherspoon)

Elongated building, with a strange change in direction part-way along to give a layout shaped a bit like an ice hockey stick. It also has 'main' doors at each end, and I'm sure I've seen a few people walking straight through as a short cut. The longish bar is located towards the Castle Street doors, and the seating area at the far end is raised slightly. Shed-like roof with an industrial ventilation system running along the centre like a spine. Small patio beer garden to one side. Six real ales appeared to be on the two banks of five handpumps on this first revisit for 11 years: Ruddles, Doom Bar and Abbot plus the seasonal Exmoor Exmas and a pair from Grainstore - Rutland Beast (£1.33, half) and Ten Fifty (although that had just run out).

A fairly standard Wethers. Its a long, single, slightly curved room with the bar to your right on entering from Castle St. There is a large air con duct that dominates the length of the ceiling. 10 handpumps on the bar with the 3 nightmares doubled up. The other beers were Grainstore Calcutta, Bombardier and Trying Side Pocket making up a rather poor selection. To the left of the Castle St entrance there is a net covered courtyard.

This Spoons dates back to Summer 2000. it looks like it has been constructed from some old shed but was apparently an indoor market. At least this means it doesn't have a low ceiling so is a bit lighter than some of their outlets.
On my visit the ten hand pumps did not have that good a choice on as Ruddles, Exe Valley Autumn Glory and Grainstore Rutland Beast were all doubled up. This left Abbot and Doom Bore plus two from the previous festival, Long Man Old Man and Shepherd Neame Red Sails. I went for the Old Man (£2.05) which according to the menu was the regular standard guest ale price. This was in excellent condition. I also tried the Rutland Beast, also in good nick but I was charged a staggering £2.89. There is a blackboard on the bar with the guest ales listed but it does not include the price, nor are there any price tags on the pump clips. I also noticed that on the menu the standard guest price was £2.05 but on the discounted Monday Club was £2.15!
I left here with the impression that it's a badly managed Spoons so gets a couple of points deducted.
