A small suburban shop conversion Spoons of three parts as you move through. The main bar is at the front with a mini Las Vegas of blinking machines and raised area. There’s a nice mid-section with a pretty backlit picked glass ceiling dome, then onto a quiet raised rear area with powder puff blue walls and semi booth seating. Done-up since my previous visit in the early 2000’s. Three guest ales, I went for the Grainstore Three Kings which was fine if somewhat unremarkable (NBSS 3). Busy on my Boxing Day morning visit, and a decent Spoons on this showing. 6.5

This is a 1990s shop conversion that apparently had a refurbishment only last year. It's a typical long and narrow room that includes a patio at the rear.
While being a pleasant enough room considering it's a shop conversion for the third time that day the beer choice was pathetic. The 12 hand pumps had two unused, the JDW Trio Of Doom with the two GK beers doubled, Hook Norton Nerdherder IPA & Adnam's Broadside doubled up and one clipped with Jaipur IPA. I was going to order a Jaipur until I noticed that it was £3.49 for a 500ml bottle, a rip-off by JDW standards and using a hand pump to sell it is underhand at the very least.
I went for the curry club which happily allowed a pint of the keg Banks's Devils Backbone which would have cost £2.99.
I certainly wouldn't return here.

A decent Spoons this one and well worth a look in. This medium sized pub had a choice of 12 ales and the service was excellent. Most of the characters in here congregate on the left of the entrance and seemed a respectable bunch. The right hand side had a raised area with book shelves along the wall. The rear of the pub was mostly set out for dining. The pubs main feature was a steel fabricated dragon perched on the handrail, which lead to the loos upstairs. Deco was mostly apple green and lilac.
The pub also had a jolly atmosphere, which radiated from the bar staff. Beer wise we went for the Oldershaws Mowbray's Mash, low abv so quite non-descript and Oldershaws Newtons Drop, which was the better choice.
