Friendly locals pub up a steep hill just away from one of the main shopping streets. It's split level inside with the top room having a well used dartboard and also a record player and a large selection of LPs available for customers to play. The main bar is on the lower level and had 4 beers on during our visit. Wychwood Hobgoblin plus 3 changing gueats. Both our beers were well kept and it fully deserves its place in the GBG2012.

This 2012 Good Beer Guide entry is a friendly local pub with traditional feel. Well kept ales that we had here were Hill Island Golden Trident and High House 5th Anniversary. They also had Durham Magus and a Wychwood ale. Proper locals pub, and they host beer festivals, have quiz nights and folk evenings.

I highly recommend a visit here, this is a very comfortable and friendly traditional pub. Also has a happy hour each day where you can get a good pint of real ale at a very reasonable price. Four ales on Wychwood Hopgoblin, Cumberland Corby Ale and I enjoyed the Hill Island Catheral Ale local Micro. Also the Wylam Apollo was another well kept ale. Will defo return.
