Jonathan Wilde left this review about Yates's

After reading the below reviews and thinking it can't be that bad, as in Manchester I thought I'd put the theory to the test and boy was I proved right by previous reviewers.

On entry on a early Thursday night no hens or stags but was met by the under belly of Manchester scum in attire that one would only every consider wearing in this great city and possibly Liverpool. E.G stupid sports clothes with daft man bags that make their status on the peripheries of Manchester City council estates and benefits Britain producers revel with joy.

First experience was carlsberg exploding on attempt at pouring for another customer which then transpired my carling also had run out of gas. In between this the Paris cat walk model sporting clothes no one would be seen dead in yet alone outside a Yates stumbled to the bar complaining his Wifebeater was flat. To be fair he had a point but nobody really wanted to deal with him but one reconnected to a Russian pipeline he was appeased.

I'm not sure I've been in a pub where the blind are led by the people that can't organise a brewery visit.

I would return purely for the entertainment factor it provided.

ROB Camra left this review about Yates's

A purpose built box with no features at all. Full of hen nights when I visited which means that it sounded like a crate of mice had been emptied into the pub. Only 1 ale on the bar which was Hobgoblin. I tried to get a quick half, but failed as it was so busy with only 2 staff on. Dreadful.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Yates's

Charmless chain pub with no distinguishing features that I could see. Actually, it wasn't too bad when I first went in with most groups chatting over glasses of wine and some customers eating. However, the expected loud, busy and transient atmosphere soon developed as the nearby offices started to empty out. Three handpumps, with two badged as Yates's Best Bitter and one offering a drinkable pint of Bombardier (which with a cheesburger and portion of chips came to the grand total of £3.00 with a voucher I had).
