This is a late 19th century pub, cited on CAMRA’s list of pubs with historic interiors, this being of Some Regional Importance, that importance being displayed in a photo on CAMRA’s site, augmented with those on the pub’s.
The exterior exhibits some fine Truman’s lanterns along with their ‘eagle’ motif repeated six times to the fascia, but it’s the bar back that’s the star of the show here. Otherwise, it’s as described below, with mismatched furniture and trustafarian, young, drunk, exuberant Stockwellians, who can also be seen on the pub’s site, on my visit many wearing England kit. The England v. USA match had finished about half an hour earlier and people were still leaving on – hopefully not because of – my arrival. The multiple TVs were still on though, affording us the pure unalloyed joy of watching Ant and Dec, thankfully with the sound off, so as not to compete with incredibly loud music.
The ale front amounted to an unused pump, then just Doom and a very average Tribute, at a very pricey £2.80 a half, served by a lovely barmaid who looked like a young Illeana Douglas.
This pub is probably better at a quieter time, ideally not after an England match, but as I live nowhere near, I don’t envisage a return visit.

Could be worse, could be better. One room with bar in the middle, pool table and TV to right. Three hand pumps, one reversed. Other two Doombore and Sharps Atlantic. Will not be returning.

Some good signs of south London boozer survive in this large pub, which has strayed a bit down the gastro route (scrubbed tables and menus on clipboards). An imposing bar back overlooks proceedings while the large windows and high ceilings give an airy feel. A pool table stands to one side, while at the back is a garden and an upstairs theatre space used for various entertainments. Round the back of the bar is an interesting sung, although it is spoiled a bit by a kitchen servery. Ales were Hophead, Doom Bar and a rather drinkable Sharp's limited edition.
