There was no sign of any real ale or food when I visited at Wednesday lunchtime. This is most definitely a locals' pub, as there were a handful of obvious regulars in having a friendly chat. A sign by the front door says that "toilets are for our regular customers only". Luckily this was only my second pub of the day so I didn't feel a need to use the facilities, as I'm definitely not one of their regular customers. But apart from denying toilet facilities to casual customers, in all other respects this pub is very traditional. It's carpeted, has red upholstered banquettes with normal tables and chairs. On the wall are masses of black and white photos of Hollywood legends such as John Wayne, Erroll Flynn, Cary Grant, etc, although clearly an exception was made for one of the UK's footballing greats as a photo of George Best crept in somehow.

The main door takes you into what was the lounge; a wide archway takes you into another smallish room - the old public bar perhaps - and there's a further room at the back containing a pool table and with shelving laden with silverware trophies. I would expect the back room to have a dartboard as well, but I didn't investigate it.

This is a really nice, well looked after pub with a homely feel about it. Shame there's no real ale, but my half of Stella was as good as I expected it to be.
