Fairly typical turn of the century 'Spoon's, with the large interior giving a nudge to art deco style although perhaps a bit dark due to low ceilings. Always good to find one with a ground floor gents however! There is also a narrow outside area at the rear which didn't look very enticing. Draught beers included a couple from Guildford's Little brewery and Bingham's Doodle Stout alongside the usual ones. It felt like a fairly reliable sort of pub.

Two JDW's in two days! I may be loosing the plot, however this is not the worse of the type I have encountered by some way, and reasonably local to me to boot. A long single room with a red carpet and large pillars throughout, some exposed, for show I presume, metal ducting across the ceiling. Two sets of five handpumps with pleasingly only three usual suspects, the rest were taken up by a couple of international collaboration beers and various micros.I had Surry Hills Ranmore Ale which I found to be in top condition. It wasn't to bad here and a bonus if you find yourself shopping before traditional pub opening times,

Apparently Claude Du Vall was a famous local highwayman, well I've never heard of him, he sounds more like the local hairdresser to me.
This looks like a shop conversion, it dates from 2002 and consists of a long single room with the bar on the left and a raised alcove on the right. It was quiet on my Friday morning visit with a small daytime brigade contingent on one of the tall tables and a few other isolated people.
The bar has two sets of hand pumps the first of which had Doom Bore, Ascot On The Rails, Banks's Feral Hop Hog, West Berks Dr Hexter's Healer and Stonehenge Pigswill available soon. The other set had the tow GK beers with Abbot doubled up, Evan Evans Golden Hop and Ascot Penguin Porter available soon. I went for the Feral Hop Hog (£2.50) which was on the turn, possibly exacerbated by the thundery weather but it put me off being healed by Dr Hexter.
I thought this was one of the better Spoons so it's a shame it was let down by the beer quality.
