Largely predictable Wetherspoon bank conversion but feels a bit tatty compared to some, not least as the usual splendid ceiling is rather swamped by vast industrial ducting. Guest ales were just Moorhouses Blonde Witch and Kirkstall Pale, which was very cloudy but tasted ok (is that normal, I wonder?)

Totally impossible to get served on Sunday evening. About 20 waiting to be served and only 3 staff behind the bar. We walked out.

Called in over the weekend. No problem getting served and the guest beer range was very good. It is a bit of a shame that not much character has been preserved in here, but it is a pub aimed at vertical drinking at the weekends. Maybe we were lucky, but it was better than expected after the last few reviews.

As noted below this is an obvious bank conversion and needs no further description.
I probably came here at the worst possible time, late afternoon on a Saturday towards the end of October with Christmas looming and a Rugby semi final going on. The place was rammed.
I got a beer in and managed to find an available table so went back to order some food and another pint. They seemed to have a decent selection of festival ales on but my first one Caledonian Rare Red Rye wasn't clear which is pretty poor for a 3.9% ABV brew. The second one the Maxim John Bull Stout seemed to be in good nick. It's hard to reasonably criticise this place so I'll mention my main gripe which is the prices. The festival ales were £2.70 which means the normal guest ale price was probably £2.85. This is a lot higher than any of my regular Spoons haunts in London and the sausage and mash was also dearer.
I'm sure it's not as bad as a score of 5 at a quieter time when I would probably have sent the cloudy beer back but that's what I'm giving it.
