A local tackled me while taking a photo here, so I asked him what the beer was like. "The best in town", he said loyally, so I went in. There's a room at the front which is lower than the main bar area at the back, and looks more like a cafe than a lounge, but access from the side door brings you straight to the bar. A couple of murals were painted by a former bar worker, apparently.
There's no real ale here, so I made do with a half of Boddingtons emasculated smooth. The atmosphere was convivial and the regulars seem a friendly bunch, who are doubtless quite happy drinking bland and fizzy lagers. For me, a couple of real ales on the bar would make this a useful stop if between trains at the nearby station, but I can't see myself calling in for another Boddies.

Called in here on the 14th of March very tired pub it was about 4pm only two in they were pleasant enough. But with the bottle coolers empty its not going to be open much longer.But as we all know there will be another one with big dreams and big ideas Will call back next time i am over there

This pub was called the New Inn and was a Wilsons tied house when i went in here it was also a gay pub.
I had a drink of Wilsons bitter which was ok but nothing special.
Pub visited 18 march 1989.
