I have been in this pub several times since it re-opened as the Cricketers. It seemed to change management a while afterwards. It no longer seems to intend to offer any real ale (or, at least, it still hasn't managed to do so). As at last week the bar billiards table had been replaced by a white sofa, and the absence of any other customers when we visited seemed to support my feeling that this is another doomed attempt to turn a once fine pub into some sort of poncy bar. The female behind the bar told us they'd got rid of the bar billiards table because not many people played it - but at least they'd have had two customers in the pub - us - which is two more than they actually did.

(following was from May 2012) Below review was from its days as ‘The Tryst’. It has recently re-opened as the Cricketers on the Green, and evidently determined to be a proper pub again (the friendly barman was very particular about this, and asked if I had any photos of what it was like in the old days). As of Saturday, it had a fairly normal drinks selection except that there was no real ale on yet – however they had carved out three niches in the bar counter ready for the pumps to be fitted. There was Sky Sports on and they have invested in a bar billiards table (like they had in the old days) where we had a good game. I’m really pleased to have this pub back and will review more fully next time I get to go there.

Came here for a drink last night, not least to satisfy my curiosity about whether it was still possible to do so, or whether despite being presented as a 'pub and restaurant' it is exclusively the latter. The friendly European girl behind the bar reassured us that it was fine to come in just for a drink. There was no real ale however, and my choice of Hoegaarden over Bud, Becks or Guinness from keg failed on the basis that only the last two were actually on. Ended up paying £4.00 for a Becks and £3.00 for an Amaretto.

It has been extensively refurbished since the days when it was the Cricketers. All of the tables indoors were set for diners last night, and a baby grand piano to the left of the entrance testified to the sort of entertainment provided here. I asked the friendly European girl for a menu for future reference, and established that they do a '3 courses for £10' deal on the Chef's menu from Mon-Sat lunchtimes, which seems quite good in what is otherwise quite an expensive venue.

There is quite a nice garden behind, which slightly surprised me as I don't recall it having been available when it was the Cricketers. It would make a good beer garden, if attached to an ale house.

This is primarily a restaurant as Rex says, and may well be a good one. It is still possible to use it as a pub however, though not a good one.

This is now a restaurant called The Tryst. All tables were set for diners. There was no real ale.
