A cafe/Gastro bar, I only called in here because it was between the Antelope I had just departed and my next planned destination the lamb, It was very lively on a Monday evening and there was a good vibe about the place, unfortunately only London Pride was available on cask so I tried a Meantime London Pale Ale and it was excellent,I don't remember the price this being the 14th stop of a days pub crawling, but I doubt it was cheap, despite not being the sort of place I would normally haunt I did quite like it and the general ambiance and would pop in again.

This is a single roomed corner pub with the large clear glass windows letting in a lot of natural light. Bare boarded floor, some exposed brickwork, one wall of fancy wallpaper otherwise lots of grey and another similar nondescript colour. The bar is on a middle side wall, mixed seating which is a bit crammed in, little in the way of décor. Tennis balls are suspended from recessed light fittings over the bar, large white candles are strategically positioned on window cills. Low volume chilled background instrumental music played. It really isn't very pubby at all, much more wine, food and cocktails really. Wines and fizz listed over the bar. Food is mainly burgers, steaks, sharing platters and paninis, with a light bites option.
They do however have a handpump, with what I suppose is a changing real ale, not generally mainstream either. Tonight had Portabello Star...£2.25 a half...I have frequently seen Hogs Back TEA on when passing. My half was served in what looked to me like a whisky glass, a solid small tumbler which really didn't look like it contained half a pint but I guess it must have done.
Consistent with the café style feel there were tables al fresco on the pavement, these are not always here, it has been nice and sunny all week.
Not my idea of a pub, it doesn't have many proper pub characteristics but you can still see the old pub inside today's version, the fact that a decent real ale is served recovers my opinion somewhat, I'd go in again, if I spotted something interesting through the window. Only for one though, apart from anything else it is way too expensive.
