Sonnet 43's brewpub, restaurant and 'boutique hotel' is housed in substantial and impressively premises, set back from the main road by a short distance. The rooms at the front have been partially opened-out to leave a 'T'-shaped bar, with the more formal dining section in another room further back. Pleasantly traditional furniture and decor throughout, although quite rustic around the servery and more upmarket towards the side and rear. All five of the brewery's core real ales were available on handpump, together with the Yellow Cab lager on the keg taps. Well worth the walk from the town centre.

As noted below this is a large imposing building now run by Sonnet 43 brewery and includes "Boutique B & B" whatever that is. The open plan bar area has a mixture of wooden and tiled flooring. On a Friday afternoon it was fairly quiet with muzak playing. I noticed live music advertised.
I only saw five hand pumps here although the Sonnet 43 Raven was on keg. All five cask were from Sonnet 43, namely Abolition, Seraphim, Impressment APA, Aurora and Athenaeum. I ordered the Athenaeum but sadly it had gone off but the Seraphim (£3.40) and Impressment APA were excellent.
I liked this place and found it a good venue to try the Sonnet 43 ales.
It's GBG 2018 listed.

Sonnet brewery refurbished and rebranded the Lambton Worm in April 2013 as their brewery tap pub. The pub is a half an hour walk up hill, out of Chester Le Street, so we jumped on the bus, which runs every 10 mins to Newcastle. The pub is position on a residential stretch of road and to me looks like a former Art Deco detached house.
Once through the Union jack painted front door, you enter the main bar and lounge. This main front room continued over to the right, along the front of the building. Their was a fairly large dining room at the rear, which was full on our Sunday afternoon visit.
The interior was traditional in style, with dark green painted walls and ceilings. Their was a collection of mining memorabilia and brass plates around the front bay, where we sat. The ceiling lamps were made up from antlers, which looked as though they belonged in a Scottish Hotel. A couple of large wooden barrels took up space in the front bar, obviously used for vertical drinking, at busier times.
Service here was very swift from the friendly barmaid, who was also taking the food orders, whilst running the bar. Eight pumps, with five Sonnet ales on. I went for the Sonnet India Pale Ale, which was excellent, the American Pale Ale was also to my taste, but didn't really get on with the Steambeer amber ale.
