A traditional looking famhouse style pub, tiled and plastered, as described by Steve below. On our lunchtime visit on Jubilee Saturday the pub was catering for a comfortable number of diners and drinkers both inside and at the tables facing the green and in the sizeable garden.
The online menu seemed interesting, rural pubs such as the Cock depending on meals to a large extent. However a Jubilee menu was operational for the duration. The staff were friendly, and our dogs made welcome in the little side bar.On the cask front,Greene King IPA and Doombar were joined by Bishop Nick's Heresy, a workmanlike golden ale, produced by the old established Ridley brewing family.
A pleasant pub in an attractive village.Handy for Stanstead airport,if that floats your boat.

Steve of N21 left this review about The Cock Inn

The Cock Inn is located in the village of Henham on the Hertfordshire-Essex border and is a fine example of a well run country pub.
This was not always the case as there were ‘issues’ with the previous incumbents which almost led to the pub being closed by Punch taverns. But fortunately it was taken over by one of the locals (the daughter of a local farmer I believe) and it is now back to being a solid country pub serving the local village community and it was being well supported by the locals when I visited on Saturday evening.
Formerly it looks like it was a three roomed Inn, but now one large internal space, although still subdivided into three distinct areas.
Enter by either of the front doors and you find yourself in the main bar area in the centre of the pub. Then to the left is the a decent sized dining area and then to the right is the snug, which is almost a separate long thin room in its own right, which houses the fruit machines and a large plazma screen on the far wall.
Then there is a large garden area out back and a few bench tables to the front of the pub which catch the late evening sun.
On the beer front, there are three handpumps on the bar. Two of these were the ubiquitous GK IPA and Sharps Doombar. But the third usually dispenses a beer from the Villages own Microbrewery, The Saffron Brewery, which is a one man band of an operation housed in old farm buildings almost opposite the pub. And on my visit this was Saffron Blond, a very pleasant golden ale.
The pub is also dog and walker friendly, although dogs are not allowed in the restaurant area (I believe walkers are!).
