Steve C left this review about Poachers

The Poachers is a large family friendly Marstons pub and restaurant that was starting to fill up with diners during a Tuesday evening visit at the end of last year. Most of the pub is set up for diners, but there is a relatively small bar area to the left of the entrance with a few tables. A standard and premium keg range was available, and I counted five hand pumps. One of these was unused and another off which left Marston’s Pedigree (x2) and Wychwood’s Hobgoblin Gold as the cask ale options. I spotted a television that was off with no signs for live sport. There was some very low background music playing.
Out the front is a car park and split-level seating area the is paved and grass covered. The shell of an old building is a feature with the old chimney stack still in situ. There is also a Summer bar for when the hoards come to take advantage of the canal side location.

Alan Hurdle left this review about Poachers

Being on the bank of the Llangollen Canal close to the Welsh/English border, this pub gets very busy on warm days. The tables along the canal bank are extremely popular. Meals are served all day and Real Ales are available from the Marstons range.
There is a queuing system at the bar for both meals and beer! Any unsuspecting stranger who walks straight up to the bar, suffers the wrath of the queue.
