Expected great things from this one. An unusual approach up a pathway with what I assume to be a COVID-era covered area gives way to a neat exposed stone bar area (which looks like a mid 2000s refurb) with a stage to the rear. Sadly it fell apart remarkably quickly; despite a GBG listing and three pumps at the bar there was no cask ale, just a cider. For the missus, there was none of the advertised hot chocolate and no food due to an out-of-action kitchen, relayed to us by someone who appeared to be in charge with a shit-eating grin and a ‘so what can I do about it?’ shrug, not even a hint of sincerity or an apology for so much being unavailable. Deciding to play it safe I opted for a Tennants which tasted metallic; takes a real effort to mess up the big T. To cap it all there was some sort of poetry night with candles on the tables and a performer who was an aged version of the People’s Poet. Secreted my tinny slop at the earliest opportunity and beat a hasty retreat. What a load of rubbish.

Really nice popular pub. Great range of drinks and they do a mean breakfast! Very friendly staff and drinkers alike. Great covered-over beer garden with wooden benches and private areas. They also have burners that you can put on if it gets cold. Live music very often. A really really good pub - best in Perth i think.
