The former Partick Tavern and Partick Brewing Co. has undergone a major refurbishment to become the Bag O' Nails. There is a separate dining area, accessed through a revolving door at the street corner. This leads through to the bar, which also has a separate entrance from the main road. The bar is dimly lit with exposed brickwork and wooden floors. There were four TV screens, all showing the same channel, and loud music playing. Seating is a mixture of sofas, chairs and bar stools, with plenty of standing room too. Despite its spaciousness, there seems to be a distinct predilection for diminutive bar staff. Prices, unlike the staff, are on the high side, with Guinness at £3.95 a pint. Heineken, Tennent's, Heverlee, West Brewery St. Mungo, Pabst Blue Ribbon, Rothaus Pilsener and Rothaus Hefeweisen lagers are also on draught, as are Caledonia Best, Drygate IPA and Addlestone's and Magner's ciders. There is also an impressive array of bottled beers and a selection of cocktails named after pop songs, such as "Bad Moon Rising," "Strawberry Fields Forever" and "L.A. Woman." Be aware that you might have to think twice about which toilet to go to as the doors are just marked "M," "D" and "F." All in all, the Bag O' Nails is a significant improvement on its rather run down looking predecessor, although the relatively high prices might deter more budget conscious customers.

After checking out some pubs in Dumbarton Road last sunday 20 July 2014, I noticed the Partick Tavern is now The Partick Brewing Co.

David Ross left this review about Partick Tavern

A large, oblong shaped pub which looks as if it was once on the ground floor of a tenement building. At £3.55 for a pint of Guinness, it is no cheaper than most of its perhaps trendier rivals in the West End of the city. Tennents, Carlsberg and San Miguel lagers, Tetley's bitter and Strongbow cider are also on draught. In addition, there is an extensive wine list and food menu. Typically, there are big screen TVs, piped music and a cash machine in the bar. While there's nothing here to particularly complain about, there are several better options only minutes walk away in this area of high pub availability.
