David Ross left this review about Stag Hotel
The public bar of Lochgilphead’s most prominent hotel has a separate street entrance along from the main hotel door, although the lone barman was covering both the reception and the bar. Fortunately for him, although it was a Friday night, it wasn’t busy, with only a young couple playing pool in the side room in addition to myself. It’s a rather nondescript hotel lounge of the type I’ve seen hundreds of around the country. On draught are Caledonia Best (at £3.10 a pint), Belhaven Black, Guinness, Tennent’s lager, Olde English Cider and Craig’s Light Lager (which I’d never previously heard of). Quiet and pleasant, but it lacks the pub atmosphere which is to be found elsewhere in town.
